Design for the future - How to deal with new technology

This text is a thoughtdoodling on challenges met with the increasing level of data stored and collected, and how it could be used, or abused.

The technological evolution on the use and collection of big data and the wide use of tracking of activity by large companies such as Google, Facebook, and probably the governments around the world etc. is a action with still unexplored consequences. The privacy of the users are threatened, and often without any toughts offered on the fact that they know exactly where we are and what we do with the most of our lives.

I don't think we would accept the same amount of surveillance if this was done by a "tracking device" instead of something as personal as a mobile phone.
Recently several of these companies have showed low control and security in how they treat and store the data collected. For instance can facebook keep all data on you for as long as they want to and use it for what its worth. "private" groups in facebook is not at all private. Facebook can access all information in this groups, as well as anything else.

What could this huge information collection cause in the future? They could probably predict my future better than myself by using big and advanced programmes to predict my future action, and therefor place advertisement on things before I know that I want it myself. (with a calculated amount of unsecurity).

Ill be back later with updates on this.
Note that this is only a thinking process. Details and facts are not corrected/backed. Statements could be wrong or unsupported at this moment.

  1. The concept of things being better at predicting your own decisions than yourself is really quite interesting - I wonder what other opportunities that presents other than advertising?!

What if your brain was scanned, a digital replica produced, and then the digital model constantly being fed information from your physical brain (to keep it 'current').

The digital model would then be able to have a massive amount of scenarios or conversations run at once, creating multiple consciousnesses. This would infinitely expand the range of decisions that your brain could make at once.

What would the implications of this be?

  2. That sounds like a plausible scenario. By using statistics and calculations of outcomes, your earlier "results" as a weighting factor, and possibly be able to use historical data (genetics as well as your ancestors history). maybe they could 3d print (tissue and all of it) as a new brain, exact identic to yours, upload your memories to it, and then let the brain function as areal brain. This is science (fiction?)
